BIHAR

BIHAR  a state with long history being birth place of Samrat Ashoka and first Demcracy ie Vaishali came into existence in 1912.

Before 1912 from 1776 to 1905 it was part of EAST INDIA COMPANY’s BENGAL RESIDENCY . In 1912 Bihar and ORISSA was one but in 1936 it was created independent BIHAR STATE with four DIVISIONS

1. BHAGALPUR  2.PATNA  3.TIRHUT  4.CHHOTANAGPUR.

Then again BIHAR was recreated in 2000 leaving CHHOTANAGPUR DIVISION .

Now after reorganisation BIHAR has 

Divisons – 9   , SUB-DIVISIONS – 101 , CITIES & TOWN –  207 , MUNICIPAL COPROATION 12 , NAGAR PARISHAD(City Council) – 49 , NAGAR PANCHAYAT (Town Councils )  – 80 ,  BLOCKS – 534,  PANCHAYAT ,VILLAGES  –  45,103 ,
